Frequently asked questions
Here are answers to the most common tattoo questions I get. From deposits and prep to aftercare, this page covers what to know before your appointment so you can come in confident and ready.
-
How do I book a tattoo with you?
You can book through the booking page on my website. Share your idea, placement, and size, and I’ll get back to you with availability and the next steps.
-
How much will my tattoo cost?
My minimum charge is £50. All other pieces are priced based on size, placement, detail, and the time needed. Larger work is usually done at an hourly or session rate. You’ll always receive a quote before confirming your booking.
-
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes. A deposit is required to secure your appointment.
£50 for standard appointments
£100 for a day session
Deposits are non-refundable, but you can move your appointment with at least 48 hours’ notice. You can move an appointment up to three times before a new deposit is required.
-
How long is the wait time for an appointment?
Wait times are usually around 2–4 weeks. Smaller pieces may be available sooner. The booking page is kept updated so you know what’s currently open.
-
Do you take walk-ins?
Yes, I accept walk-ins anytime I’m not already booked. You can message me on the day to check availability or visit Southern Classic Tattoo in person.
-
What styles do you specialise in?
I focus on lettering, black and grey, and fineline designs. My style pulls from comics, sign writing, graffiti, and strong mark-making. I can build something from your idea or help shape it.
-
Can you work from my reference image or idea?
Yes. I can use your concept and refine it so it works well as a tattoo, or I can design something new based on your direction. Any references help — sketches, photos, or even keywords.
-
What should I do to prepare for my tattoo?
Eat well, stay hydrated, and avoid alcohol the night before. Moisturise the area in the days leading up to your appointment and wear clothes that give easy access to the placement area.
-
Do tattoos hurt?
Pain varies depending on placement and your own sensitivity. Most clients describe it as uncomfortable but manageable. Breaks are fine whenever you need them.
-
What is your aftercare process?
I recommend keeping the first wrap on for a few hours, cleaning gently, and using a light, breathable moisturiser such as Palmer’s Cocoa Butter or Aveeno. Avoid heavy, waxy balms. Rewrap the tattoo on the first night to protect your bed and reduce dryness. Full details are on the Aftercare page.
-
Do I need ID for my appointment?
Yes. You must bring valid photo ID — either a driver’s licence or passport. Tattoos are strictly for clients aged 18 and over.
-
How can I ask a quick question before booking?
For small questions or availability checks, you can DM me or send an email. For actual booking requests, use the booking form on the site so I have all the info I need.
